In 2021, A&M was invited to design the newest 2500m2 food hall area in the heart of the award-winning Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. Borrowing local traditional elements and the characteristic mix of nationalities that the international airport combines, the design of a food market that attracts the eyes of visitors and creates a new landmark was proposed.
The design resulted in 8 restaurants offering a variety of choices through different cuisines and flavors. This journey of flavors was formed for the visitor through the design of a dialogue between geometries and materialities. Shades and textures influenced by the local markets of Qatar come together to complete the overall result and create a scenographic landscape.
The common seating area is designed using organic forms along with a variety of spatial qualities, to provide an interesting alternation of experiences influenced by the daily life in the city of Doha.
