A&M Architects has reimagined the entrance and stairwell lobbies of the Gravias Building, a commercial office complex in Maroussi’s business district, creating a dialogue between the building’s retro character and contemporary design interventions.
Central to the renovation is the preservation of the existing marble cladding, carefully conserved to retain its material presence and visual impact. A newly conceived ceiling structure, reminiscent of a skylight, amplifies natural light and defines the spatial experience, introducing a sense of openness and luminosity throughout the interiors.
Modern details are subtly layered into the historic framework: concealed ceiling lighting, dimmable fixtures, and refined contemporary finishes enhance functionality while respecting the building’s original aesthetic. Complementing the spatial design, the project includes the creation of a new building identity, its name and logo, visually unifying the complex for multiple tenants.
The result is a lobby that harmoniously balances timeless elegance with modern comfort, offering visitors and tenants alike a refreshed, inviting entry experience.
